CONTATTO is an intensive exploration of Physical Contact

The name CONTATTO brings together three interconnected concepts:

Contact — the relationship between two bodies: a meeting point from which, through the principles of biomechanics and improvisation, a new centre of gravity and new possibilities for movement can emerge.
Tact— perceptive listening through the skin; sensitivity and quality of touch; awareness and care in calibrating contact according to the needs of each action. These are all essential qualities within Contact work.
Act — action; moving towards another person; choosing to enter into a relationship and making oneself available to the other in pursuitof a shared goal.

This is how CONTATTO was born: from the desire to offer an immersive experience that guides participants through the dynamics and techniques of Contact.
The workshop approaches Contact not merely as a technical study of biomechanics — recognising and understanding forces, leverage and weight distribution — but also as a human experience that explores trust, openness, negotiation and collaboration.

Because, before being dancers,
we are human beings in relationship with one another.
